Drift into Exceptional Bay Fishing with 956 Salty Waders in Arroyo City
It was a beautiful day out on the water in Arroyo City, Cameron County as I took John out for a fun day of bay fishing with 956 Salty Waders. The clear conditions throughout the day made for perfect fishing weather, and the water was just right - not too rough, not too calm. This time of year is a great period for this type of fishing, as the seasonal shifts bring the Spotted Weakfish and Redfish closer to the surface, making for some exciting light tackle and jigging action.
From the moment we set out, the fish were fired up and ready to hit our baits. We started working the flats, keeping a steady drift with the light tackle and really working the water column. It didn't take long before John's rod bent over - he'd hooked into a nice Spotted Weakfish that put up a spirited fight before we got it in the boat. That got the blood pumping, and we kept at it, mixing up our presentation with some jigging to really cover the water. The Redfish were in a feeding mood too, and John landed a few quality reds that had us both grinning from ear to ear.
The great thing about a day like this is that it's about so much more than just the number of fish caught. Sure, landing those Spotted Weakfish and Redfish was a blast, but it was just as much about enjoying the beautiful surroundings, feeling the gentle breeze, and sharing some laughs over the day's adventures.
